If you’re being made redundant, you might be entitled to redundancy pay. You’ll only get redundancy pay if it is a genuine redundancy – check if your redundancy is fair. There are 2 types of redundancy pay you could get: ‘statutory’ redundancy pay – what the law says you’re entitled to.
What entitlements do I get when made redundant?
This can include:
- wages – up to 13 weeks unpaid wages (capped at the FEG maximum weekly wage)
- annual leave.
- long service leave.
- payment in lieu of notice of termination – maximum of 5 weeks.

If you’re made redundant, your job won’t end straight away – you’ll get a paid notice period. You might get notice pay instead of your notice period – this is called ‘pay in lieu of notice’. Your employer will tell you if they’ll give you pay in lieu of notice.
