The P60 must be given to you by 31 May after the end of the tax year (5 April), so that, if you need to, you can complete a tax return or claim a repayment of tax. The only circumstance where an employer is not required to issue you with a P60 is if you have left their employment during the tax year.
What is P60 called now?
Employment Detail Summary
2018 is the final year that you will issue a P60 to employees. From 1 January 2019, the P60 is abolished and replaced with an Employment Detail Summary, in line with PAYE Modernisation.
Do you get a P60 if you are on universal credit?

Is a P21 the same as a P60?
The main changes are: The Employment Detail Summary replaces the P60. The Statement of Liability replaces the P21. A new Preliminary End of Year Statement shows if you have paid the correct amount of tax for the year.

The bottom of the P60 will show details of your employer’s name, registration number and address.
Can your P60 be wrong?
If your P60 information is incorrect, then your employer can issue you a new P60. Occasionally, a payroll department may make a mistake and issue a P60 with mistakes in it. If you spot that any of the information in your P60 is incorrect, get in touch with your employer so they can issue you a new, amended one.
Do you have parts 2 and 3 of your P45?
A P45 has 4 parts (Part 1, Part 1A, Part 2 and Part 3). Your employer sends details for Part 1 to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and gives you the other parts. You give Part 2 and 3 to your new employer (or to Jobcentre Plus if you’re not working).
How do I get old P60?
If you need a P60 that goes back more than 3 years, your employer might be able to help you. However, you might need to ask them for a Statement of Earnings. If your employer does not give you a copy of your P60 form, then you can ask HMRC. Please note, your employer is not obliged to give you a copy.
Can I see my P60 online?
If the employer runs e-Payroll you would login to your secure portal and download. If you lost documents you can get a copy P60 online with your pay information. This is calculated from information you provide not directly from the employer.
